Get answers to common questions about Comb Retwist.
We recommend a Comb Retwist every 4–6 weeks to control new growth and maintain form. Timing varies by hair texture and lifestyle. Note: our base price covers 100 locs; excessive growth, matted roots, or extra long locs may incur an in-salon upcharge.
Yes. Our pricing covers up to 100 locs with typical new growth. Locs longer than mid-back, excessive new growth, or matted roots require extra time and materials, so an in-salon upcharge will be applied. Loc style services are extra.
Comb retwists can cause mild tension, especially on newly tightened or fragile roots, but our stylists use gentle pressure and pause for comfort. Communicate sensitivity—adjustments reduce discomfort. Severe pain should be reported immediately so we can modify technique or pause service.
Appointments typically take 1.5 to 3 hours depending on hair density, loc thickness, and root condition. Excessive new growth, matted roots, or locs past mid-back length increase time and may incur an in-salon upcharge. Loc styling is considered an additional service.
Yes, please wash and dry locs before your appointment unless instructed otherwise. Clean hair allows better parting and root work. If locs are heavily matted or contain product buildup, additional time and fees may apply; loc styling remains an extra service.
Loc repair during a retwist addresses weak, separated, or damaged roots. We assess each loc and perform interlocking, palm-rolling, or re-rooting as needed. Repairs for extensive matted roots or very long locs may incur an in-salon upcharge; styling is extra.
